Herb Williams
40 years of having fun with dogs.
It was just over 40 years ago that Herb Williams got his first dog, a Chow Chow named Koko. There was no way at that time he could have predicted the endless fun he would have not only with his own dogs but also the hundreds that have performed in Superdog shows over the last 30 years.
Many years ago, as President of the Metropolitan Kennel Club in Toronto, he initiated the first entertainment show with dogs at a regular Championship Dog Show. It was evident to Herb that the entertainment ring had much more attraction to the public than the regular judging rings.
From that experience, Herb created the first official Superdog Show, which made its debut at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver in 1978.
Herb's creative, artistic, musical and dramatic talents are very evident in the shows that the Superdogs have presented over the years.
Creating the Dog Show of the 21st Century was not by accident, and his association with co-producer Chase has made possible such thrilling, exciting and surprising spectacles as the Wizard of Paws, Hollywoof, Star Woofs, the Bow Wows of Broadway, Woof Rock 'n Roll, SuperDisco/SuperDogs, and their current successful production, El Festiva, now on tour across North America.
Going to the gym and rollerblading are Herb's favorite pastimes. Don't be surprised to see a show with Herb as host on his blades. And one final note . . . don't expect to see Herb wearing the same outfit twice. He loves shopping for those wild tuxedos (he has 27 of them at last count), and dazzling shirts in his favorite city, Savannah, Georgia.
Herb lives with his wife Joan on their estate El Capistrano in Toronto.

Chase
Chase saw his first Superdog show in 1990 and the experience truly fired his imagination.
With a solid business, marketing, TV and advertising background, Chase quickly teamed up with Herb Williams. Their common goal was to make Superdogs the best family-entertainment show in the world.
"I wanted to create a hybrid show with athletic and skilled dogs plus some of the finest theatrical performance elements. So we took the dogs and added a little Cirque de Soleil, a little Disney and a dash of Harlem Globetrotters."
Together in 1992, Chase and Herb launched the first theatrical Superdog production called "Hollywoof," It was lights, camera, and action -- the start of shows to come.
As co-owner and co-producer, Chase often co-hosts the show with Herb, playing many different roles, including the memorable Captain Woof. Chase has also produced and hosted Superdogs in three languages: French, English, and Spanish.
Chase lives in Senneville Quebec. |
